Martha Argerich interview – Financial Times:
Last night I listened to him again on YouTube – he has everything and more. What he does with his hands is technically incredible. It’s also his touch – he has tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that.

Norman Lebrecht – Slipped Disc:

A pianist for the rest of our lives ... This is a major artist, phenomenally gifted and almost fully formed, with fresh ideas and a winning stage presence that is quite irresistible from the moment he bounds through the door and sits at the keyboard, unable to contain his need to share.

Trifonov hailed as “an artist of breathtaking poise and theatricality” after LSO concerts

“Still only 23, Trifonov is now maturing into an artist of breathtaking poise and theatricality,” began the Times of London in their review of Daniil Trifonov’s recent Barbican Centre performance of Chopin’s Piano Concerto in F Minor with the London Symphony Orchestra under Valery Gergeiv.

The Times was just one of several papers impressed by the young Russian pianist; London’s Guardian wrote: “Trifonov's performance was a marvel, a mixture of exuberance and fabulous subtlety, as remarkable for the delicate precision of his wispy pianissimos as for the irrepressible energy of its grandstanding rhetoric.”

Equally impressed with the performance was The Arts Desk, who proclaimed “It is wonderful to see a young pianist so thoroughly fulfill early promise, and it certainly seems like he is doing all the right things to build a long and glorious career. He combines a total technical facility – every run emerged from the Fazioli grand with crystal clarity – with an infinite variety of tone.”

Journalist Jessica Duchen in JDCMB described that tone as "an Aladdin's cave of glowing, kaleidoscopic colour."

This performance capped a seven city tour with the LSO, which also included stops in Brussels, Frankfurt, Dortmund, Freiburg, Paris and Milan.

Daniil Trifonov is one of the brightest names

of the next generation of pianists. His reputation for outstanding performances, musical insight and expressive intensity has already surpassed the attention he received when, during the 2010/11 season, he won medals at three of the most prestigious competitions in the music world: the Chopin Competition in Warsaw (Third Prize), the Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv (First Prize) and the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (First Prize and Grand Prix).
