Big Frame has raised more than $3 million in seed capital from a laundry list of institutions and investors. The company, which is less than one year old, helps YouTube users develop their audience, grow revenue and produce premium entertainment.

Big Frame currently boasts more than 100 channels in its YouTube network, with an aggregate viewcount bumping 42 million monthly video views amongst 7.4 million unique monthly video viewers.

The content comes from long-standing YouTube stars, on-the-rise talent, one web series (Squaresville) and one channel that’s part of YouTube’s $100 Million Originals Initiative.

“Big Frame’s team finds itself in a similar position to [that of] the pioneers of the television age,” said DFJ Frontier’s Founder and Managing Partner David Cremin. “With large audiences across multiple devices including mobile, Big Frame’s content has the potential to reach more people, more often and in a more personalized manner than any other medium today.”

So, what will Big Frame do with the influx of cash?

First, it will set up more staff. The company said it plans to expand its talent management, sales and production teams so it can continue to find and recruit some of the best new content creators on the web. The company has also seen growing interest from advertisers looking to make branded entertainment properties and media buys in the online video space.

Big Frame will also create more content. The company is looking to make more of its own programming and expand its “library of original IP.”

Big Frame is headed up by CEO Steve Raymond, Head of Talent Sarah Penna and Rawkus Records Co-Founder Jarret Myer. Its latest round of funding came from Anthem Venture Partners, Daher Capital, DFJ Frontier, LaunchPad LA, New World Ventures, The Media Farm and Social Starts as well as angel investors Diego Berdakin, Dave Goldberg, Peter Gotcher, Clark Landry, Adam Lilling and Dan Murray.
