This is a very interesting take of the modern religious Jewish follower. It is a very Jewish book and does not have a universal message. It is amazingly written. It talks about the logic of following G-d’s Commandments and the beauty behind it. Todays Orthodox Jews get stuck behind the draconian laws, and forget there is a special spiritual reason behind them. That is the takeaway message. In a day where religious practice is under scrutiny, R. Soloveitchik brings to the reader the inner joy of following Halacha. Enjoy!!!

That is the awesome task of Halakhic Man. In the words of this sage we can see, with breathtaking clarity, that the 613 mitzvoth or commandments are not collection of dusty, restrictive rituals. On the contrary, those holy precepts embody a timeless and priceless formula that changes lives and reshapes worlds.

The brilliance of Rav Soloveitchik should speak to the heart and mind of any reader who genuinely wants to comprehend the central tenets of Torah. Highly recommended.

However, this happened nearly 20 years after my first (and unsuccessful) attempt to read it ! My advice is not to be put-off by the difficult philosophical language of the book.
