So excited for the release of this video featuring Chetes and Joey Burns. This song started with me drumming 20 minutes before Joey showed up to the studio at Midtown Island (with Matt Rendon) to record. I put laid down a drum take with Boogaloo rhythms in mind. Before Joey played any guitars or bass I wanted him to learn the structure of the song (nothing, but drums, but the structure was there...). So we did two rounds of claps along with Matt. Followed by two rounds of percussion with Joey on congas, Matt on Tambourine, and myself on cowbell. Joey finished guitars and bass and then we sent it off to Chetes. Chetes wrote his vocal melody and lyrics and made the song even cooler than expected. Marco Rosano played some Beatle inspired saxes. The video was shot in separate locations here in Tucson and in Monterrey. Hope you enjoy the story behind the song and video.
