More about Elfriede Czurda
Born 1946 in Wels, studied Art History and Archeology at Salzburg University and in Paris.
Freelance author, in Berlin since 1980.
1981 Reading at the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize ceremony, first book published by Rowohlt shortly afterwards.
1986 Sojourn in Paris to write the novel Kerner.
Today again lives in Vienna.
In recent years recurrent guest professorships in Japan and the USA.
Her exceptionally diversified work includes novels, short stories, poems, essays, plays and audio plays (as director as well) and translations from French.
2008 Austrian Award of Merit for Literature.
