More about Uwe Tellkamp
Uwe Tellkamp was born in Dresden in1968 and is a trained medical doctor but was forced to drop out of his university course due to reasons of „political unreliability”. His debut novel with the title “Der Hecht, die Träume und das Portugiesische Café” (“The Pike, the dreams and the Portuguese Café”) was published in 2000 with Faber & Faber. His subsequent novel “Der Eisvogel” (“The Kingfisher”), published in 2005, also received positive reviews throughout the German-speaking literary world. His latest book “Der Turm” (“The Tower”), published in 2008, finally won him the public’s and the critics’ general recognition and acceptance.
