Bethan Roberts was born in Oxford and brought up in nearby Abingdon. Besides obtaining two MAs from Sussex and Chichester Universities, Roberts also was the winner of the Arvon/Jerwood Young Writer's Apprenticeship Award in 2004 for her first novel, The Pools, published by Serpent's Tail. Her short stories have been published in Mslexia magazine and various other publications. Bethan Roberts teaches creative writing at Goldsmiths, University of London. She lives in Brighton.
