More about Barbara Frischmuth
Born in Altaussee in Styria in 1941; studied translation (Hungarian and Turkish); founding member of the Forum Stadtpark in Graz; her first novel “Die Klosterschule” (The Convent School, translated by Gerald Chapple and James Lawson, Riverside, CA: The Ariadne Press, 1993) was published by Suhrkamp in 1968, followed by numerous novels, short stories, plays, and radio plays as well as translations from Hungarian; some of her works have been filmed and translated into many languages. Lives in Altaussee, Austria
