More about Josef Haslinger
Born in Zwettl in Lower Austria on 5 July 1955.
Childhood in a farmer’s family, choirboy at Zwettl Monastery; after leaving grammar school read Philosophy, Drama Studies and German at the University of Vienna.
Writes stories, novels, essays.
His political thriller Opernball (Opera Ball), which appeared in 1995, made him well-known internationally.
1992 Co-founder of SOS Mitmensch, a Vienna-based human rights pressure group
1993 Premiere of the Performance Amerika (also appeared as a CD)
Since 1996 Professor of Literary Aesthetics at the German Institute for Literature in Leipzig
Lives in Vienna and Leipzig.
