More about Peter Turrini
Peter Turrini grew up in Carinthia. From 1963 to 1971, he held various professions (including steel worker, advertising copywriter, hotel secretary). A freelance author since 1971, he lives in Kleinriedenthal near Retz (Lower Austria). He shot to fame with his first play “Rozznjogd” (première at the Vienna Volkstheater in 1971). Today, he is one of Austria’s leading playwrights. Together with Wilhelm Pevny, Turrini wrote the screenplay for the six-part series “Alpensaga” (1974-79, director: Dieter Berner). This is considered a milestone in television history. As a librettist working with Friedrich Cerha he wrote the opera “Der Riese vom Steinfeld” (“The Giant of Steinfeld”).
