Born in Linz in Upper Austria on 22 December 1953.
Studied German and Psychology in Salzburg.
Long stays in Tokyo, Paris, Berlin and Italy.
Has lived in Austria again since 2000.
Free-lance writer.
Author of novels, stories, short stories, lyric poetry, plays and radio plays.
Numerous essays and other contributions to newspapers, magazines and anthologies, prefaces to books by Mela Hartwig and Adalbert Stifter.
Prizes and awards include:
1990 Austrian State Scholarship
2005 Culture Prize of the Federal Province of Upper Austria
2006 Kunstwürdigungspreis der Stadt Linz (Prize of the City of Linz in recognition of artistic work)
2009 Österreichischer Würdigungspreis für Literatur (Austrian Prize in recognition of literary work)
