*Born in Munich in 1975.
Son of the director Michael Kehlmann and the actress Dagmar Mettler.
Studied Philosophy and German Studies at the University of Vienna.
Lecturer in poetics in Mainz, Wiesbaden and Göttingen.
Reviews and essays published in numerous magazines.
The novel Die Vermessung der Welt (‘Measuring the World’), published in 2005, became a bestseller and has been translated into 40 languages.
Lives as a freelance writer in Vienna and Berlin.
