Études de littérature espagnole et de littérature allemande à Salzbourg, Salamanca et Malaga.
Écrivain.
Auteur de nouvelles, romans et scénarios, traducteur de littérature espagnole et ibéro-américaine.
Directeur de la collection de poésie « Aurora Bücherei » aux éditions Otto Müller Verlag à Salzbourg.
Nombreux voyages dans différents pays d’Amérique latine.
Vit à Vienne
Erich Hackl a été récompensé de nombreux prix et distinctions en Autriche et à l’étranger.
