Born in Graz in 1989.
Studied at the Academy of Applied Photography.
Works as a writer and photographic artist.
Member of the Graz-based authors' collective platform.
Work published in literary magazines and anthologies, as well as on the radio.
Work for theatre and film.
In 2011, her first novel, Die VerkörperungEN (‘The EmbodimentS’), was published by Leykam; in 2015 it was followed by the novel Winters Garten (Winter’s Garden’), published by Suhrkamp.
Valerie Fritsch lives in Graz and Wien.
Numerous awards, including scholarships from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Art and Culture for travel to Cuba and India, a state scholarship for literature in 2013/14, the Rotahorn Prize for Literature 2014 awarded by the literary journal manuskripte, and the Peter Rosegger Prize for Literature 2015 awarded by the Province of Styria.
