Animoto Goes Grav

Have you seen Animoto? No? Go back a few words and click that link. Animoto is awesome. It’s a service that automagically creates a professional-looking video for you based on a bunch of photos (and/or video clips), synchronized to music of your choice. Take a look at some of their sample videos to see what I’m talking about.

I just found out today that Animoto have added Gravatar support, so now when you leave comments on a video over there, you’ll see something like this:

Nice!

  1. Thank you for the link I do not know their site, it is doing is really good. I find it normal that Gravatar is everywhere because Gravatar Internet has become indispensable.

Gravatar is a great feature, very easy to implement. Anything that has an email, can just md5 it and add an image area, and Gravatar will be there.

See for exemple my Unicornified Gravatar http://hikari.ws/unicornified-gravatar/ , which uses Unicornify service to add unicorns to WordPress comments whose emails aren’t registered in Gravatar.

  4. […] you find a topic, sometimes topic finds you. Gravatar blog (I am subscribed to for some reason) had mentioned Animoto today and awesome plus automagically are words that generally catch my attention.I checked it out – […]

Thanks a lot for this tip. I had not heard about Animoto before but it’s just exactly what I was looking for for one of my internet marketing projects. Video is the future of internet marketing or will be even of all websites or blog in general over time. Animoto is an easy way to combine screen shots to a powerful video presentation. (The gravatar part is sweet to)

Yeah, gravitar is good. It still irk’s me that I can’t use animated avataars. However when you look at some of the garbage animations that are used I can understand why.
I must go and hav a good look at animoto though, sounds very interesting for my baby daughters blog.

Hi Ian — the main reason we don’t support animated Gravatars is actually because it’s quite hard to do it with resizing (for different sized images) and retain the animations. It’s something that we might support at some point if we can figure out a good way to do it though 🙂
