To celebrate the loosening of lockdown, we thought it would be nice to share some of our recent news and plans for the mysterious road ahead. Like everyone, we’re constantly adjusting, trying to stay creative, active and be positive as much as possible. We don’t have many live gigs on the horizon but we do have plenty of other excitement to share with you.
My Light shines on

We are thrilled to be part of Edinburgh International Festival‘s specially curated series My Light Shines On: A Celebration of the Festival City. The program of music, theatre and dance aims to capture the essence and energy of the festival. We recorded a few (socially distanced) sets in the beautiful Leith Theatre in July, it felt so great to play together again!

James Duncan Mackenzie’s Departure

Thinking back through 15 years of Breabach memories has been truly amazing. We have been so fortunate to travel the globe playing music and sharing in fantastic adventures. Delivering our music to anyone who would listen – what a blessing! It is with this sentiment of joy and gratitude that we now bid adieu to our dear friend and stellar bandmate James Duncan Mackenzie who is taking on a new direction in his musical career and will no longer be touring about with us Breabachies. We wanted to share a few pics on our facebook page to celebrate some of our wonderful journeys with James since 2008 and, of course, to mark the next chapter in the story of the band. Best wishes Seumus with all of your dreams and ambitions.x

Conal hails from Poolewe in the Scottish Highlands and has performed with various world class acts over the years including Cara Dillon, Duncan Chisholm, The Paul McKenna Band and is co-founder of the groundbreaking eclectic folk group Inyal. Since early Spring, we have been settling in as the new line-up, discussing creative direction, enjoying socially distanced drams and now, with restrictions lifting, it’s been great to meet up and work on new music for 2020 – All very exciting. More info on our forthcoming projects and releases soon but most importantly, we warmly welcome Conal into the Breabach family!
Glenturret Online Tasting

We had a really fun night with Jamie Morrison from the Glenturret Distillery for an online ‘virtual’ tasting of the Breabach 15 yr old Whisky. It was a delight to finally get to try the dram and to get the craic with Jamie and all the viewers. The tasting is available to watch again at the above link and you can still order one of the last remaining bottles from: www.theglenturret.com/breabach

New arrivals for Ewan and Megan

It’s been a busy lockdown for Megan and Ewan, not only for numerous appearances on Duncan Chisholm’s #CovidCeilidh or the above performance video (made for our friend Dietmar Haslinger’s Club Weltenklang series) but they also welcomed into the world new baby, Joey Grace. Welcome to the world little one!
