Therefore, to understand the contemporary urban landscape it would be much more interesting to study the rise of the new communities and what they might have to offer, what is so appealing about them, and how they relate to new larger wholes, instead of constantly talking about public life and community in terms of a loss of something whose very nature has always remained unclear to us. The classical disziplines of architecture and urbanism are not enough to understand, plan, and control this urban landscape and the behaviour of its inhabitants any longer. We need to understand the influence of the new media, not only to be informed and so be able to avoid traffic jams, but also to know where we are and where we want to go.
