About

Sign up here to get our newsletter!

To submit your work, send a Word document as attachment to: fictioncanteen(at)gmail(dot)com along with a brief description of who you are.

Fiction Canteen is an event to share ideas about your writing, get feedback, be inspired by others’ texts, and take part in a compered discussion with the audience. It is a space to grow into the new and to promote voices that may go unheard. Submit your works-in-progress to us! We are hosted by club ausland in Prenzlauer Berg, a long-standing venue in the Berlin literary and music scene.

We look for strong, original voices. We support and include authors who identify as LGBTQI*, as well as writers of colour, and those with different physical abilities. This does not mean that you can only submit texts if you feel addressed by these categories. It does mean that we perceive a need to redress an imbalance in the Berlin literary scene.

Lucy Jones is the curator and moderator. We are proud to announce Sharon Dodua Otoo as our honorary patron.

Do you want to get involved behind the scenes? Are you a social media expert? Do you want to help out at events? Are you a graphic designer or a web programmer? Then please get in touch: fictioncanteen@gmail.com

Submissions

Anyone may submit at any time to fictioncanteen@gmail.com.

Two readers are announced at our events via social media and our newsletter.

Texts of prose/verse, fiction/nonfiction, up to 15 minutes, and ideally unpublished but authors may have previous or forthcoming publications.
