Great Recording

I listened to a number of other recordings of the Carmina Burana including the Jochum and Ozawa recordings and this was one of my favorites. It keeps up the energy and emotion that's absolutely necessary for this piece while maintaining a high level of precision and musicality. Lots of the recordings I've heard have one of the other, this is one of the few that has both.

Best Recording ever

No other recording of the Carmina Burana captures the intensity of the piece quite like this one. It flows beautifully, and the tempo is spot on for every song. The chorus is phenomenal and really get into the piece, not simply singing notes but making music. The orchestra is perfect, the soloists are great, and it is unlike any other. If you are going to get a Carmina Burana recording, make sure its this one

A phenomenal recording

The piece has always been a favorite. Listening to many recordings, the chorus usually takes the focus from the orchestral accompaniment. However in this recording, the sheer power and virtuosity of the CSO's brass and winds is equal to the task of emphasizing the raw emotion and power of the text. I think Orff would have wanted it this way!
