Editors’ Notes
Maybe it was the political climate, but back in 1984 a story about a rural American town that outlawed music and dancing actually seemed possible. The 15th Anniversary Collector’s Edition of the soundtrack to the teen movie Footloose is loaded with all kinds of guilty pleasures and catchy, upbeat ‘80s cheese. Kicking off with a clean remaster of Kenny Loggins’ title-track, “Footloose” bounces like the mellow groove of a Hall & Oates number but with Loggins’ trademark twang and a keyboard that sounds so indicatively ‘80s, it very well may have been covered in fluorescent pink paint. Deniece Williams’ synthy dance-pop hit “Let’s Hear It for the Boy” plays as though it could live in groovy symbiosis with Madonna’s “Lucky Star.” Both “Footloose” and “Let’s Hear It for the Boy” were No. 1 hits and the soundtrack sold six million copies when it came out. Ann Wilson of Heart and Loverboy’s Mike Reno inadvertently soundtracked many a high school prom with their steamy duet in “Almost Paradise,” but it was the swoon of Foreigner’s “Waiting For A Girl Like You” which scored the make-out parties.

OMG.. my school did footloose for a musical.. and i went to watch it twice.. then i came home and watched the actualy movie twice.. I LOVE THE MUSIC... IT IS THE BEST 80'S IVE HEARD.. lets hear it for the boy is amazing.. and so is.. "holding out for a hero" im so glad my dad owns this cd... i listen to it ALL the time!! =D
Takes you back to when the movie was new.....
A lot of the reviews on here seem to be from younger people. I am only 29 but I guess I am ancient compared to most of the people on I Tunes!!! Anyway I love hearing these songs, I remember when the movie came out and I used to make up dance routines with my friends while listening to the RECORD! ha ha ha! I highly recommend this album, but you must've seen the movie in order to appreciate it. Excellent movie, dated but still relevant, and ditto for the songs on this album. Watch the movie, buy the album.
Hey You!
I really enjoyed the movie "Footloose". The soundtrack is amazing, a great combination. I would reccomend this soundtrack to anyone. The songs make you want to just get up and start singing and dancing! ( Check it out! )
