Introduction: How to share your appartment contract
In Germany, if your asylum application is still stuck in the system, you are under residence restrictions or do not have any papers at all, it is almost impossible to rent an appartment. Chances to be able to rent increase if people with and without papers team up.

Pick the friend with the most German sounding name (and EU/German papers)
Step 2: Present As a Couple
Present with her/him as a couple. Have in mind that in some cases it might have advantages to present as a heterosexual couple whereas in others it might work better presenting as gay.

If your application for the appartment is supposed to include a CV and a photo, take a nice picture together with your new ‚fiancée‘ and add it.
Step 4: Try to Get a Shared Contract
If you do have some sort of valid papers, try to get a shared contract with both people on the contract. This way you might be able to become the main tenant later on.
