This is the best book I have ever read! This is not a stand alone. Trust me, the series is worth the read and you will enjoy this book much better if you know what is going on. The world building is the best in the business. They also write an exceptional cast of characters that are crazy and funny. I love Sean and Dina. They are a great couple. This is a highly enjoyable read and also a lot lighter than some of the other Innkeeper books. The lightness was deeply appreciated. I do love the entire series and hope they never have to end it.

This is the 5th of the Innkeeper Series, and like its predecessors, it is marvelous. I'm a retired librarian with over 50 years experience reading science fiction and fantasy, and this series is one of my top five favorites ever. This particular entry is as full an experience as any of the novels and carries itself with the same intelligence and grace.* 50 years of reading has given me the opportunity to play many roles, to envision many worlds, but were I allowed to pick how I would be reborn, I would wish to be an innkeeper.
*When you find yourself underlining passages because they are insightful and memorable, and help you understand yourself and others, you know you are reading a novel that has transcended its competition. The brainpower behind these novels is exceptional.

The Innkeeper Chronicles have become one of my favorite series by this author. And getting a novella to tide me over was just the right thing last night.
Dina and Sean have my heart, as well as all the rest of the Inn's occupants. I'm pleasantly surprised by how well Sean fits into Dina's and the Inn's day to day operations. He is like a missing piece for Dina and gives her the love and support she has been missing.
I can never get enough of the Inn and its occupants and Dina's compassion in regards to everyone's wellbeing.
Overall the novella was the perfect balance between storyline, action, and dialogues between favorite characters. I loved it all. It was way too short, but I don't think this is something new for anyone that loves this series. All that is left is for me to re-read the series until the next book arrives.

This story is a novella. I knew that. On my Kindle I kept seeing the percent read, growing quickly higher, dreading the approach of 70 percent, 80 percent, 90... I just didn't want it to end so fast! So it's a good story, a nice addition to the previous four novels in the series.
The Ilona Andrews team showed their creative depths once again as they mined the universe of possibilities for oddities, ironies, and beautiful settings--many created within the Gertrude Hunt inn. Hollywood should take notes. In fact, this series would be terrific for a movie series. As impossible as some of the characters may seem, they seem more REAL than some of the junk that gets made into excuses for cinema.
The Kindle version I received was a little shy on copy editing. My recollection is the previous volumes were better in this respect. It's not enough to cost a star, and it is a common problem with eBooks. Worth a mention but don't let that scare you away from another terrific Innkeeper Chronicles story.
I started by griping that it's a novella, and wishing for more. That's honest. But I'll also say that the size of the story matched the plot. It would have been wrong to just string it out for another fifty or hundred pages just to call it a novel. This particular story is, in fact, appropriately a novella. So read, and enjoy.
(And the final point for the authors: How long must we wait? Awesome series. Keep writing!)

Sweep with Me is a novella in the Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews
This was a fun novella. The Andrews team packed, so much into this short story.
I loved seeing Diana and Sean again. Dina is upset, sad, and worried about something big, but the Inn is never quiet and some big things happened that take her mind off of all those worries. In the end Diana takes care of all her guests in true Innkeeper fashion and solidifies her standing with the Innkeeper Assembly.
Sweep with Me packs a punch. There is no shortage of creativity, action, emotions, and fun!

Fullest, most action packed short story I’ve ever seen. An excellent addition to the Innkeeper franchise, we get to share in the first January 14 (!) Treaty Stay holiday since Sean moved into the Inn with Dina. This is only a few weeks after One Fell Sweep, at about the same time Maud and Helen are seeing Arland’s world in Sweep of the Blade.
I’m even more impressed that the finished book was very close to the installments posted on the author website. What a treat!

"Welcome honored guests... You are cordially invited to the celebration of the Treaty Stay, the oldest of the Innkeeper holidays..."
...And, so begins, the 5th book in the Innkeeper Saga! It's a novella, and yes, it's my Favorite book (yes, I say that every time I finish an Ilona Andrews' book) LOL! But that doesn't make the statement wrong!
Dina and Sean, and maybe even the Inn (Gertrude Hunt, by name) are still feeling like they're treading water from the aftermath of fighting off the Draziri in the last book, One Fell Sweep... plus now The Assembly (the governing power of Innkeepers), is questioning Dina and Sean's actions! The Assembly has however postponed the inquiry until after the Treaty Stay celebration, and has asked that Dina host a Drífan during the celebration!
Well sure! Why not? Dina also receives two other inquiries for lodging, one was a request for a safe place to solve a family dispute, party of sixty-one... and the other request was from a Medamoth (a warrior, pilgrim) and Dina has agreed to host them all, as it would be in bad form to turn any away during the Treaty Stay... and per usual, Gertrude Hunt had as many rooms needed!
As the Celebration is coming to an end, and all the guests needs have been met, with aplomb I might add... Dina has one more gift to give, by spotlighting Orro's culinary grandeur, in the final celebratory meal!
And, yes I've already read it twice, now waiting for audio version!

Short but fun catch up with the Inn Keepers.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 18, 2020Verified Purchase
This novella from the Innkeeper chronicles is a short visit to catch up with the characters from that series. The series is about a sentient Inn and the characters who live there, visit, or defend it.
At the end of book 3, one Fell Sweep, we had 2 couples, Dina and Sean who got their happy ever after and Maud and Arland who still had to get there. Book 3 ended a quite epic bit of story telling with a few loose ends to take us into the next book. The authors chose to go with Maud and Arland off world away from the Inn for book 4.
We will have to wait a year for the next full novel so in this story we get to catch up with Dina Sean and the Inn. It starts days after book 3 ended with Dina and Sean expecting to go before the Innkeeper Assembly as a result of the previous adventures. However, a dangerous guest who wants to stay at the Inn for a special meeting, a group of philosophying space chickens needing a place to have a gathering, an alien general looking to visit the Alamo and Orro going to see his TV chef hero in action all need to be dealt with first.
This was written for the authors website around Christmas and it has a light hearted feel and plenty of fun. There is that bit of darkness that makes it worth reading but the overall story arc doesn't really move forward. We have to wait for book 6 to se if Dina gets closer to finding her missing family.
It's a must have for anyone reading the series and makes a taster for anyone who wants to try the series. Its too short to have room for much back story so you need to accept it as it is.

This series is one of my favourites and I've loved every book so far, this one didn't disappoint. It might even be my favourite.
I really wish they were longer, I would happily read a 1000 page book about Dina and co. That's my only complaint.
I loved her relationship with Sean in this one, I'm glad they're getting their happily ever after. After everything, they deserve it. I like how he's still his badass soldier self, even while settling into life as an innkeeper.
As usual, the residents of the Inn were delightful. Orro is one of my favourites and he was superb in this book. I laughed out loud a lot at his parts, I feel like I should now start randomly shouting 'Fire!' when I'm excited. I'm so glad he got to see his mentor at the end, it was so heartwarming. I wish I had Orro in my kitchen!
Her Grace was excellent, I love that she's currently playing the part of a gossipy old woman, obsessed with the neighbours and their drama. I forgot who she really was for a moment. I have a feeling that Caldenia is going to become important in later books. I think housing her for so long has to buy Dina a lot of good will. So hopefully, when she emerges from her seclusion, she'll remember Dina is a friend.
The actual plot of this one was fun. Dina handles a crisis really well. I adored her interactions with the chickens, so much!
I'm hoping the assembly will back off and give her the credit she deserves. She handles situations that would terrify other innkeepers and they need to cut her some slack. She deserves another star rating for her Inn at the very least. The assembly feel like bullies to me and I don't like it.
I love Dina's new friend. I like that she was human but became something else, it reminds me of Sean's journey, even though he's a werewolf . (speaking of, I freaking loved the part where he bit that assassin's head, great stuff.)
The battle was great but again, way too short, I want more! I enjoyed Sean just sitting behind his ridiculously large guns, blasting away.
Overall, I loved it, I want to reread the whole lot.

A fascinating series

This is an amazing series,.such a great fear of imagination and utterly original. There's nothing in urban fantasy similar to this. The universe is.bigger than you imagine there are plenty of other worlds. Gertrude Strong is a sentient Inn a building where space travellers can rest while travelling through the universe, in every inn resides an Innkeeper the person responsible for.running the Inn, Dina is Gertrudes Innkeeper bonded together the Inn responds to Dumas every thought,, creating rooms, furnishings etc, everything needed to ensure a guests comfort and security. An Innkeepers most important job is to make sure normal humans do not find out about space travellers. After the dramatic events from the last book Dima and Sean are.recovering at the Inn awaiting a summons to explain what happened at the Inn and their involvement. The wait is not easy if it's decided they are at fault it could result in devastating repercussions. A day before the tribunal an emissary arrives at the Inn, there is a very dangerous guest requesting at Gertrude Strong and only Gertrude will do, due to circumstances Roma cannot refuse.to host the guest but is uneasy. That's only the first unusual request in short order Dina has two more guests and a busy few days to survive.

Sweet interlude, with some kick-ass fighting

If you are a die-hard fan of Ilona Andrews (and subscribe to their blogs) you will have been advised that thos was always going to be a 'novella' : a short story. It was never meant to be a novel. I can see that some reviwers were disappointed in this.
I was pleasently surprised by this popping up in January! I was very happy with the small glipses it gives of Dina & Sean, as they settle into being a couple. Lord alone knows that 'One Fell Sweep' was tumultuous from start to finish. So getting a taster of an Innkeeper 'holiday' seem like a nice relaxing plot. I thought it was going to remain on these lines.
The story give realxed descriptions of Orro's utter passion cooking, Sean getting used to being just 'Sean' and not a killing machine, crazy space chickens (LOL), a guest who is on a pligrimage, and a mysterious creature callled a Drífan! The DrÍfan liege, who turns out to be a kick-ass sword fighter. A being who has returned to Earth to deal with matters from her past!
It was really fun and interesting story. It did leave me begging for more though! So the geek I am, I hope we have been left clues as to future events, but even if we do not, then this wasa great story for IA fans.

A lovely visit to Gertrude Hunt!

Oh, it’s been too long since we had a catch up with Sean and Dina! And that’s exactly what Sweep With Me is - a catch-up. It’s a novella-length visit to Gertrude Hunt during an Innkeeper holiday.
It picks up not long after the events in One Fell Sweep and is a basic story of Sean and Dina going about their business just being innkeepers. Obviously, there’s action and excitement and all the usual fun things you’d expect from an Ilona Andrews story but the novella doesn’t really move the overarching plot forward any. There are no Maud and Arland developments (I get the impression the timelines between the novella and Maud’s book overlap) and there are no developments on the mystery of what is corrupting Ad-Hals (Innkeeper enforcers) and no new developments with regards to the mystery of what happened to Dina’s parents.
Everything is just, nice, sweet and fun. Exactly what you’d expect from a holiday novella, even one featuring a fictitious holiday!
It’s a good read for those who are fans of the series but if you haven’t read the previous three books featuring Dina and Sean there isn’t much point in you starting here.
