The 'animograph' was the first cartoon machine created in the 1960s by self-taught French cartoonist and inventor Jean Dejoux. Though it revolutionised the animation industry and titillated professionals all the way to the US, this innovative, hand-crafted invention was inexplicably abandoned well before the advent of computer graphics.
