Call Me by Your Name first swept across the world in 2007. It is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents' cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy. André Aciman's critically acclaimed debut novel is a frank, unsentimental, heartrending elegy to human passion.

More praise for Call Me By Your Name:

"Hammer’s soft, velvety voice lends itself perfectly to the story and its Italian setting. While you might think this one isn’t worth a listen if you’ve already seen the movie or read the book, many reviewers say it is still worth taking in even if you know the story - some even say it’s worth listening to more than once." Critic Reviews

"...Hammer's voice is brimming with such melody that, if you listen to it long enough, you can probably get drunk off it." (Vulture.com)

"...Armie Hammer (who plays Oliver in the movie) steps effortlessly into Elio's interior world. The result is staggering." (BookRiot)

"A must-listen for anyone familiar with the book or film." (Buzzfeed)

Editor's Pick

One of my all-time favorites
"If Armie Hammer’s narration isn’t enough, let the upcoming sequel do the convincing (ask my fellow editors—I haven’t been able to shut up about it). With a voice so soothing and melodic that I honestly couldn’t help but get lost in the vivid descriptions, Hammer’s narration complements Aciman’s story perfectly. It’s a story that deserves to be listened to, over and over again. Trust me."

Stunning and deep dive into infatuation

This story has Virginia Woolf's stream of consciousness and Walt Whitman's sensuality combined in what is probably the most beautiful book I've read this year.

Absolutely spectacular!

My goodness. A simple story beautifully told. I found myself often rewinding to the start of a chapter or passage to hear Armie Hammer read André Aciman’s glorious writing once again so I could savor the words and phrasing. I really didn’t want it to end.

Crying in public

That’s what the ending of this book had me doing. Crying in the middle of a restaurant, and immediately on the last words as read by Armie Hammer, rewinding to hear the last few minutes all over again. Then I wrote a love poem to my husband. Great book! Great performance.

Profound sensuality~

An absolutely beautiful, daring and complex novel! Aciman's economy of style is at once direct and poetic. He handles a controversial subject with such sensitivity, frankness and unabashed romanticism that swoons at every turn. Armie Hammer's rich baritone, and elegant reading is superb. I will return to this again and again.

sooooo boring

I only got it because of the great reviews, and I've had such a hard time staying with it. I had to rewind the first 30 minutes over 10x. it honestly even got me in a bad mood how slow this book is. the first 30 minutes are ridiculous like get to the point already!!! it almost put me to sleep several times. after about 3 hours I officially give up and only wish I can take my credit back! and it has nothing to do with the gay guys. I'm gay myself but jesus this book is horrible! the amount of good reviews is very surprising!!!

Equal parts beautiful and heartbreaking

This story is both beautiful and heartbreaking. “Call Me By Your Name” is one of the most incredible novels to have ever written. This love story about Elio and Oliver will touch your heart and then break it into a million pieces. This is one of those novels and stories that will stay with you for the rest of your life. “Call Me By Your Name” is not only a brilliant masterpiece of LGBT literature, but it is also one of the greatest romance and coming of age stories to ever be written.

Pretentious and over-indulgent

I am clearly in the minority here but I thought this was a rambling, purple-prose filled mess of a book with no point.

Beautiful and bittersweet

A beautifully haunting and bittersweet love story that makes you ache and wish you could experience a love like it.

The narration by Armie is perfect. His smooth voice takes the story to a deeper level and makes you feel like it is playing out around you.

The movie should definitely be watched as well!

Breathtaking and evocative.

I was fully enchanted by this text - Armie Hammer was convincing in his portrayal of Elio.

Beautifully written - filled me with joy and heartbreak in equal measure.

Not what I expected!

A disclaimer may be needed, I had no idea what the content would be and I wasn't expecting this! The narration was very very good. I could listen to his voice all day long.

Great highs and boring lows.

The book has some incredible moments but it gets too caught up in side story particularly Elio's bisexuality and the polygamy of the relationship. it makes the story feel less intimate between them and although Elio's bisexuality isn't a problem in itself it really detracts from the story as his love for Marzia seems jarring and out of nowhere. Some of the background of the story (like italian art) is explored a little too deeply and it leaves you more confused than intrigued. The ending is very real and personally not what im sure anyone reading wanted but thats not the books job, it has a heartwrenching ending that denies the reader everything and nothing at once. Worth the listen but at times can be very infuriating to hear.

Full of beautiful quotes but some boring passages

Maybe if I had read this when I was a bit older and knew the keen sting of love, unrequited, forgotten, or simply lost by time, I would have loved this more. Maybe if I’d been in love with the scenery of Italy and it’s language, I would have been swept in more. But I couldn’t, because of large amounts that felt like filler for those who love both of the above.
Sometimes I couldn’t tell when Elio or Oliver had spoken because there was no “said...” or difference in voice by Armie which I in no way hold against him. Maybe if I’d had it in its physical form, I would have been able to visualise who was speaking but I struggled. Overall, lovely words and passages of love and wisdom of the world and its creations but towards the end, I wasn’t really feeling it. I did however, enjoy the reunion.

Sexy, sensual and beautiful

This book is so intimate and evocative I took to only listening to it when I was alone. Armie Hammer reads it beautifully and the descriptions of young love, Italy and summer are simply stunning. This book will hopefully make you remember your first intense love and the breathtaking beauty of intellect and acceptance.
A wonderful book for the open-minded.

It gets better

The start of this book is interminable, repetitive and juvenile but not in the evocative way I hoped. The only thing that pulled me through was Armie Hammer’s voice! I’m glad I stuck with it because about half way though it becomes quite beautiful. It’s also very pretentious, but this doesn’t make it inaccessible, just occasionally very cringey. Glad I listened rather than read it or I probably wouldn’t have pushed through.

Always beautiful

Whether I read this book, or listen to it being read, it doesn't diminish the beauty that this novel is. Armie Hammer's voice is so soothing, and really suits. Definitely worth purchasing with a credit, and is certainly the type of book to fall asleep to, and come back to time and time again.
