Job sharing with Petkovic – two caddies for Martin Kaymer

Job sharing with Petkovic – two caddies for Martin Kaymer

***Update – 29. June 2012: see a cool video with Martin, showcasing how golf and football can merge***

Insight into the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Pro-Am 2012

This Monday I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only meet a real golf pro but also to learn from him. Actually, I even had to give him advice myself concerning his game and the choice of his clubs. This was an experience which was exciting and weird at the same time. I had a full 18 holes, almost six hours, to really get to know a professional golfer. And it was not any golf pro – it was Martin Kaymer, the number one German golfer, winner of the 2010 PGA Championship, and in 2011 the second youngest golfer ever number one in the world ranking list. Read on to learn more about my day with Martin and how tennis ace Andrea Petkovic came into play.

How 30 hours in a bus help to find inspiration for football

How 30 hours in a bus help to find inspiration for football

Often, when we think about the UEFA European Championships, we think of the likes of Schweinsteiger, Neuer and Xavi and a crowd of people celebrating and cheering for their favorite teams on the streets or in beer gardens (at least we do so here in Germany).

But there are also some people who start to put all their energy into the tournament well before it even starts: at adidas these are, for example, the team members of the Business Unit (BU) Football. This team makes sure that adidas (as the Official Partner, Supplier and Licensee of the UEFA EURO 2012™) offers the most innovative products for each and every tournament. Among other things, they create and design the jerseys, develop the boots, as well as the Official Match Ball, and help Europe’s top footballing nations to compete at their highest level. Alltogether, they work hard every day to fulfill the dream of every European football player and his respective fans – to win the European Championship.

The BU Football team used the tournament as a great opportunity to see and experience what they have been working on throughout the past few years and, most importantly, to find inspiration for the upcoming tournaments. In addition, as a sign of appreciation from their supervisors for all their work and dedication, the team went by bus on a road trip to Poland to watch Spain vs. Ireland at the PGE Arena in Danzig, Poland.

adidas is leading the way at the UEFA EURO 2012™

adidas is leading the way at the UEFA EURO 2012™

The excitement and passion of fans from all around the globe and especially from the ones in the host-countries of the UEFA EURO 2012™, Poland and the Ukraine, is huge; the passion for football and for the tournament itself. Seeing all the incredible pictures on TV showcases why so many people are so emotional about football and why there is always a reason to go all in for this sport. Just to give you an example: In Berlin alone, approximately half a million people showed up at the public viewing site right in front of the Brandenburg Gate and more than 30 million Germans watched the game against Denmark – and this wasn’t even the quarter final yet! And the excitement in Poland is huge as well, even if the EURO hype slightly decreased due to Poland’s tournament drop out. I know, because I got the opportunity to be part of an adidas delegation, including Herbert Hainer (CEO) and Markus Baumann (Senior Vice President adidas Global Football), which went to Warsaw.

About the Tango twins and a rematch

About the Tango twins and a rematch

On Sunday, 17th June, Germany is set to play Denmark as their last match in Group B of the UEFA EURO 2012. Both teams still have a chance to progress to the quarter finals. But did you know that this match marks the 20th anniversary of the 1992 UEFA EURO final between Germany and Denmark? Back then, Denmark became European Champions by defeating Germany 2-0. What will the outcome be this time around? In this story I’d like to focus on how the match balls from back then and today differ. As you all know, this Sunday the adidas Tango 12 ball will be played, and in 1992 it was the adidas Etrusco Unico. So what’s the difference?

How can I support my child in his/her choice of career?

How can I support my child in his/her choice of career?

At the moment, we are receiving a remarkably high number of enquiries from parents who are facing the question of how they can best support their children in their choice of career. In particular in light of the changing landscape of higher education in Germany (following the Bologna Process), it is no longer clear what is the best option for the younger generation: a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or, first of all, to go and gain experience abroad. And what exactly is a Dual Study Program? We would like to clarify a few terms and also give you our position, from a business point of view, on what really matters to us.
