Well, that was fast! After just one day at InStyle, our new editor-in-chief’s office has transformed into a veritable garden bursting with congratulatory arrangements, including this gorgeous bouquet of red roses sent to her by none other than Orange Is the New Black star Uzo Aduba. Welcome aboard, Laura!
When it comes to the VMAs red carpet, anything goes. So I wanted to wear something quirky and colorful, but work-appropriate (I was reporting, after all). This tropical print Timo Weiland two-piece seemed to fit the bill—it even coincidentally matched the step and repeat! I paired it with the comfiest heels ever by Schutz, which didn’t fail me even after three-plus hours of standing on the white carpet. That deserves a Moonman, IMHO.
We Belieb! To sartorially celebrate Justin Bieber’s Purpose tour, InStyle.com associate fashion editor Andrea Cheng rocked a sleeveless muscle T emblazoned with the singer’s face (and epic man bangs).
Two editors were spotted twinning it up outside our office in nearly identical off-the-shoulder dresses—both by Zara, natch. Great minds indeed think alike!

Here at InStyle, we are loving this weather! (And all of the warm-weather attire that comes with it) On this sunny spring day, InStyle.com Associate Editor Kelsey Glein (above) showed up to work in an adorable T-shirt + skirt combo that we absolutely love. The best part, she paired contrasting patterns like a pro and looked on-trend for the full workday ahead.
When Digital News Editor Hana Asbrink (left) and Editorial Assistant Anna Hecht arrived at work this A.M. in gilded shoes, we knew we’d spotted an InStyle office trend a-brewin’ for spring. Let these trendy workwear outfits be proof that you, too, can wear gold, or any metallic accessory for that matter, to work—so long as you pair it with an office-ready outfit.

How to Tie a Trench Coat—Front and Back Andrea Cheng, InStyle.com Associate Fashion Editor
The hardest part about wearing a trench coat? What to do with the damn belt. We took it upon ourselves to seek out how to tie it in the chicest way possible—front and back. Check out our easy-to-follow GIF tutorials (complete with step-by-step tips) and learn how to knot a trench like a pro. And in case you’re wondering, our model is wearing the Babaton trench coat in Tawny ($295;aritzia.com).
THE FRONT
1. Pull the side of the belt without the buckle a bit longer, and cross over the side with the buckle.
2. Draw the long strap under and up to cinch. Let it hang.
3. Loop the strap sans buckle under the other, and pull horizontally.
4. Pull the strap without the buckle way from the body and through the loop.
THE BACK
1. Cross the side of the belt without the buckle under the other side.
2. Wrap the strap with the buckle over the other, and pull horizontally.
3. Pull the strap with the buckle under and through the circle you’ve created.
4. Pull the strap with the buckle through the loop.
