http://www.CollegeRecruiter.comMinneapolis, Minnesota, November 3, 2003 – More college and university students and recent graduates who are actively seeking work expect to find their next job through good, old fashioned networking than through any other method, according to the results of a poll released today by CollegeRecruiter.com, an online job listing service for students and recent graduates with zero to three years of experience.
“We were heartened to see that job seekers understand that their best chance for success is through networking,” said Steven Rothberg, President and Founder of CollegeRecruiter.com. “While we certainly believe that job seekers should use job boards such as CollegeRecruiter.com because they do work, we believe that even the best job boards and other such channels should be used as supplements to, and not replacements for, networking.”
The CollegeRecruiter.com poll of more than 1,000 college students and recent graduates found that:
- 26 percent expect to find their next job through networking with family or friend
- 24 percent expect to find their next job through Internet job boards such as CollegeRecruiter.com
- 19 percent expect to find their next job through newspaper classifieds
- 12 percent expect to find their next job through the web site of the employer
- 7 percent expect to find their next job through referrals from a current employee
- 12 percent expect to find their next job through some other means
