Job Search Tip: Take Your Job Search Mobile – Vol 1

I was on my way to work today (commuting via public transportation) and when I looked up (from my mobile device), I noticed that almost everyone on the train who was looking at a mobile phone, Blackberry, tablet or eReader.

If you commute via public transportation, take a look and let me know what you see.

Even more interesting (or maybe sad) is to watch people in restaurants. Same deal, so many people focused on their mobile devices (even with someone sitting across from them!). We stress over the remaining battery in our devices and hope we will not run out of battery before we can “plug in” and we really stress out when we have to go into “airplane mode”.

College Grad – Will Work for Food

Some of our friends’ kids have just graduated college and are “in the job market”. Besides having little or no clue how to look for a job, the overall incentive level seems to be very low this year in particular. One of our friends, who is a super “success maniac”, is so stressed out that his son is not only not currently employed, he is in the “let them find me”mode. His first day home he restored on a few job search sites and is now waiting for people to call him. Good luck with that. Okay, time to get focused. National SAT Scores Decline While Survey Shows Colleges Confident in Exam

Are you confident that your SAT or ACT score will reflect your potential as a college student?  Apparently, most colleges do.

As a recent report from the College Board shows SAT scores are declining among college-bound high school students, Kaplan Test Prep’s 2011 survey of college admissions officers* reports that 94% of college admissions officers are confident in the exam’s ability to measure students’ future success in college.  96% of admissions officers expressed confidence in the ACT’s ability to measure students’ future success in college, although national ACT scores, which were released last month, stayed essentially flat.
