    The recent weather confirms it – summer’s just around the corner! And that is something you can look forward to this year: for five weeks, Elbphilharmonie Summer offers a packed programme of top-class concerts in a relaxed atmosphere.

  • 10 August – 5 September

    : Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival

    The Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival is a true north-German institution – and this year it has nine concerts in the Elbphilharmonie. Under the spotlight: composer Franz Schubert and the French star pianist Hélène Grimaud.

  • 11 July

    : NDR Chor

    The NDR Choir and their chief conductor Klaas Stok dedicate their final concert of the season to the lush landscapes of Bohemia and Moravia, as immortalised in the works of great composers such as Antonín Dvořák, Leoš Janáček and Bohuslav Martinů.

    : Elbphilharmonie Hope ’n’ Air

    Hamburg’s music scene is blooming: for four weeks at the »Hope ’n’ Air« Festival on the Elbphilharmonie forecourt, bands from Hamburg and the area perform jazz, pop, indie and classical live on the open-air stage – for a standard ticket price of just €5!

    The Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle’s programme is once again bursting with top-class concerts – from orchestral and chamber music concerts to jazz, world music and pop.

    : Opera: The Cunning Little Vixen

    Musical beasts: in his opera »The Cunning Little Vixen«, Janáček takes the audience to a colourful animal kingdom. Star conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla stages a concert version of the famous fairy-tale opera with first-class solo singers.

    : Martin Grubinger

    Unparalleled virtuoso: the acclaimed multi-percussionist Martin Grubinger presents a percussion concerto by Friedrich Cerha that is dedicated to him. More timpani artistry and orchestral splendour follow in Nielsen’s Fourth Symphony.

    : Teodor Currentzis

    Refreshingly different: Teodor Currentzis and his musicAeterna ensemble are really shaking up the international music world. The audience favourite returns to Hamburg with one premiere and Shostakovich’s monumental Fourth Symphony.

    : NDR Family Concerts

    Tickets are available now for the popular NDR family concerts for children aged 6+: Winnie-the-Pooh experiences wild adventures with his friends. And there’s lots of fun and laughter in »Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo«: with tongue twisters and popular earworms.

    : Elbphilharmonie Kopfhörer

    The Elbphilharmonie podcast for young people aged 8 and upwards.

  • Violins, oboes and trumpets wanted

    : Audience Orchestra

    In the Audience Orchestra, 90 dedicated amateur musicians come together to rehearse at a high level and give concerts in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall. The deadline for registering your interest in joining is 1 August.

    Our popular Twinkle Concerts for children, and our »Distant Sounds« series for people with dementia and their families, can be experienced in a number of Hamburg districts, in addition to the Elbphilharmonie.

    »My own true voice is the guitar,« says Bill Frisell about his playing. At the Elbphilharmonie Summer, the master of the subtle notes presents a programme featuring works from his trio’s debut album »Valentine« released in 2020.

    : Rhiannon Giddens & Francesco Turrisi

    The essence of American folk on the banjo, accordion and frame drum: singer Rhiannon Giddens and jazz multi-instrumentalist Francesco Turrisi sing about grief and solace, comfort and home – wandering to Ireland and Italy as they do.

  • 28 August

    : Yaron Herman

    Fifteen young talents, five jazz stars, one week of intensive work together: the Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy is taking place for the first time this summer. In the closing concert, all participants join forces to create the ultimate summer feeling.

    : Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester

    This is already the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra’s third guest performance at Elbphilharmonie Summer: together with the star baritone Matthias Goerne, the young musicians will be giving the closing concert this year under conductor Manfred Honeck.
