Not feeling it

It doesn't sound like them ...I miss the old script

THEIR MOST MAINSTREAM ALBUM YET

If you're expecting to find any game-changing songs in The Script's third studio album "#3", you might not wanna get your hopes up. The Dubliners have stuck with their successful formula of making catchy, R&B-infused pop-rock for mainstream audiences. And for the most part, it works. Most of the tracks have the same slow tempo as past Script songs, but there are a few singles that manage to stand out above the rest. "Hall of Fame" (feat. will.i.am) is a solid, yet slightly corny empowerment anthem that benefits from the lyrical chemistry of Danny O'Donoghue and the Black Eyed Peas frontman, while "If You Could See Me Now" is a spirited and heartfelt ballad that showcases the lead singer's unexpected knack for rapping. "Good Ol' Days", "Six Degrees of Separation", "Broken Arrow", and "Kaleidoscope" are worth listening to as well. Although it never packs the memorability or lyrical strength of their debut, "#3" is still a solid effort from The Script. Full of catchy melodies, simplistic lyrics, and a surprisingly large amount of hip-hop, this latest release from the Irish group is well worth checking out.

What happened?

I understand Hip Hop music has become so mainstream that it is just in everything. But what I completely dislike, is when a band as talented as this one, completely changes there sound to fit in to the Mainstream. This bands first album not only did well commercialy, but it was also a well written album. Beautiful melodies over well aranged hooky riffs. What happened to that formula!? Why does every band feel now that they need to have a rapper or rap themselves in there music to have it do well. I have nothing against Hip Hop other than the fact that at this point it is so over played. Its played itself out. The Script needs to go back to what made us all dig them in the first place. Strong melodic pop music with good lyrical content. Heres hoping for the 4th album to go back to why I baught the first.

A self-described "Celtic soul" trio, the Script were founded by guitarist Mark Sheehan and vocalist Danny O'Donoghue in 2001. The two musicians had previously performed together in Mytown, an Irish-based boy band that enjoyed moderate success at home but failed to generate international acclaim. After the group disbanded, Sheehan and O'Donoghue spent several years in Los Angeles, where they worked as producers alongside the likes of Teddy Riley, the Neptunes, and Rodney Jerkins. They later relocated...
