Editors’ Notes
Tiesto's done it all—almost. With a career that spans two decades, the superstar DJ was there for the dawn of EDM and has played to crowds of millions in nearly every club in the known universe. And yet, A Town Called Paradise is his first studio album for a major label. It's also a stylistic departure: venturing away from the synthetic trance of previous efforts, Paradise features guest vocals from the likes of Icona Pop and American Authors' Zac Barnett, as well as pianos, guitars, and even a few live drums. "Wasted" has a quirky '80s charm to it, while the single "Red Lights," with a soaring chorus and playful electric guitar, is Tiesto's first American radio single. Not surprisingly, dubstep deviants Krewella blow off the roof on "Set Yourself Free."
Customer Reviews
Still a fan
I've been listening to Tiesto for over 12 years. He's been my favorite artist since I saw him live at The Crowbar in NYC almost 9 years ago. When he spun mostly trance music. I used to tell friends about this dj that was gonna blow up, I just knew he would finally introduce America to great, positive music. 9 years later, my friends remember Tiesto. They recognize how big his name has gotten and remember that I "knew" him first. The music has changed a bit, but it had evolve to continue. Artists that do not sell records have difficulty being able to continue being an artist. I do not feel that he has sold out at all. I am glad that he has given me a new album to buy every year. I am thrilled that he has music on the charts and that he is known as one of the best. I am tired of hearing the bashing that goes on, if you were a fan when he was a trance artist, then appreciate the success that he is having now. EDM was great when it played in dusty abandoned warehouses but those days are over. Enjoy the music.
Stop Hating
Tiesto is a professional music producer. He can produce whatever kind of music he wants. Music producers aren’t entitled to just one kind of music. Chill out people. If you like his older stuff, then go listen to his older stuff. You don’t have to listen to this album.
Horrible
This is what mainstream and popularity gets the #1 Trance DJ he once was into. Letting the money ruin his music career .
