what does a tax matter if there's good financial health of the country?
Right now the rich are not contributing, and families are going bankrupt over medical bills.
If people can afford to live, they can afford to spend, and our economy can work. The rich who complain about contributing to our country should get the f--- out, or support america.

I nip across to Belgium when all this rubbish comes near, Jubilee,Olympics, hideous.
The cost doesn't bother me as London Council Tax Payers paid for most of it. I smirk at the Torch Relay as the Nazis invented that in 1936, how tasteful...not....

Expand this comment »Stiglitz offered no specifics about how to pay for new spending programs other than to raise the capital gains tax rate on the wealthy.
However, such a tax would raise IRS revenue by a piddling amount, EVEN IF one wants to make the idiotic assumption that the wealthy won't try to avoid the taxes.
Capital gains taxes are among the easiest to avoid, and more avoidance is what we'll get if we raise the cap gains tax rate

Bankers salaries expand with money supply. Wage earners are supposed to be happy that two earners are making what 1 earner did 40 years ago.
