#DandyDontheValiant’s Review: BAD MOTHER #1- Now That’s A Bad Day!

Oh, hey, Mom. I’m reading and reviewing another series for Outright Geekery today. The comic book I’m reviewing is from that young and fresh comic book company: #AWAStudios. The title of this new series is Bad Mother. What? No, Mom, I wasn’t calling you a bad mother, that’s the name of the series. I think you’re an awesome, Mom. No, I don’t think they’re going to have a series titled Bad Son. Why would they do…HEY! Geesh! Sorry about that OG peeps. Now, let’s get to this week’s Dandy Don the Valiant’s weekly review.

#AWA Studios-#Upshot (#ArtistsWritersandArtisans, Inc.) keeps cranking out the hits, such as #TheResistance, #YearZero, #Archangel8, and others. They can add another one to the hit list. It’s called Bad Mother #1. Crime writer, #ChristaFaust, has written a suspense-filled thriller that I could see being a movie one day. It’s that good!

Bad Mother #1 starts out with April Walters having a bad day that gets even worse. She is not happy with the way she looks. She’s trying on clothes in a store fitting room that doesn’t fit and the woman outside tells her they have a larger size she could try on. Ouch! Then, while grocery shopping, April runs into a blonde bombshell that teases her about her daughter not making the cheer leading team because of her weight. Double ouch! While waiting in the grocery checkout line, a robbery takes place (what a scene!). She does manage to make it home unscathed, but her daughter comes home after getting beat up by her boyfriend. Not a good day at all! So, April decides to go find that boyfriend. When she gets to his house, she finds him dead. Uh-oh! What happens after that is…well, yeah, you’ll want to call your LCS today and add this to your pull list if you love a good whodunit story. This series looks to be a real thriller, especially after seeing that cliffhanger. YIKES! But be forewarned, this issue is definitely for mature readers and not for the faint of heart, with its language and violence. So, buyer beware.

Writer Christa Faust has written a winner here. I’m looking forward to seeing how this five-issue mini-series will play out. It’s going to be a thrill ride, for sure. With art by the magical #MikeDeodatoJr. and colors by the lavish #LeeLoughridge, this thriller could be ranked number one with a bullet on the AWA hit list in no time.

Oh, I know you were just kidding, Mom. I’m not a bad son. Right, Mom? Mom? Oh, boy.
