Tom is an Ivor Novello nominated composer, pianist, and clarinetist.  He is known for pushing the boundaries of experimental contemporary classical through his collaborations with artists including Floex, Max Cooper and EivØr, which blend electronic production and jazz aesthetics with his emotive and familiar song structures and melodies.

Most recently, Tom composed the score for Kevin Macdonald's The Mauritanian, starring Tahar Rahim, Jodie Foster and Benedict Cumberbatch. Previous credits include the acclaimed BBC/AMC crime drama series McMafia, starring James Norton and David Strathairn, which he wrote and produced the score for all eight episodes with his frequent collaborator Franz Kirmann, the feature-length documentary The Man Behind The Microphone, directed by Claire Belhassine, and the docu-drama series Rise of the Nazis for 72 Films / BBC Studios.

Tom has created original score for feature films, documentaries, TV drama, ballet and multiple award-winning advertising campaigns.

THE MAURITANIAN OST - DIGITAL RELEASE

The score for The Mauritanian, directed by Kevin Macdonald and based on the New York Times best-selling memoir Guantanamo Diary, is available to stream everywhere now.

RISE OF THE NAZIS RECEIVES NOMINATION FOR an ivor novello award

The score for Rise of The Nazis (72 Films & BBC) has has received an Ivor Novello nomination in the Best TV Score category. Tom was proud to compose the score for this powerful series that looks at how Hitler and the Nazis seized power in Germany and ushered in the death of democracy.

The three-part series explores the various psychological perspectives of Hitler's contemporaries, highlighting the incremental decisions and missed warning signs that led to the rise of the Nazis, and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer here.

Tom and Max struck up their collaborative relationship once again to write ‘In Pursuit of Ghosts’, a winding, atmospheric track which features on Yearning for the Infinite, Max’s 2019 album released on Mesh.

While recording some clarinet for another project, inspiration struck to make a piano version of ‘Wednesday (Is The New Friday).' With the help of a few ribbon mics he was using at the time and his Eavestaff MiniRoyal piano, Tom was able to capture the moment.

Following their tour of the Czech Republic, Floex and Tom released John Doe Arise (Live In Prague), a four-track excerpt of A Portrait of John Doe recorded live with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and singer Kim Sheehan. Following a chance meeting in Berlin and three subsequent years of creative collaboration, Floex and Tom's expansive electronic-classical crossover project is finally here! Created with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, A Portrait of John Doe imagines a musical world that celebrates the ordinary, finding value in no one and everyone.

Tom joined forces with long-time collaborator Franz Kirmann to score the prestige eight-part BBC / AMC drama McMafia. On the music, co-writer Hossein Amini said, "Tom and Franz have brought a truly original and distinctive voice to the series, mixing tension, emotion, violence and tenderness in a bold, mesmeric score."
