The New York Times Profiles Wild Symphony

Discover the project's origin story – more than 20 years in the making.

Today, The New York Times announced the upcoming release of Wild Symphony. As Alexandra Alter writes, "The story features a mouse conductor who recruits other animals to perform in his orchestra, dispensing wisdom about the value of patience, kindness and respect along the way. Readers can listen to the musical accompaniments for each page with a smartphone app that uses augmented reality to scan the page and play the music for 'Bouncing Kangaroo,' 'Wondrous Whale' and 'Brilliant Bat.'"

The piece also chronicles Dan's musical background and Wild Symphony's origin story – more than twenty years in the making. To read the full article, visit The New York Times.

Wild Symphony will release on September 1, 2020 and is set to publish in 27 countries and counting. To learn more, visit WildSymphony.com and stay tuned to Dan's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.

Announcing Wild Symphony!

Dan Brown makes his children's picture book debut

Wild Symphony is a uniquely entertaining picture book experience in which the playful Maestro Mouse, trusty baton in hand, brings readers along as he visits a variety of animal friends, from cheetahs and kangaroos to elephants and blue whales. Each beautifully illustrated spread is dedicated to a different animal and offers a piece of mindful wisdom for navigating life. Susan Batori’s illustrations add kid-friendly humor, and additional clues and puzzles are hidden in the detailed backgrounds for interested readers of all ages.

Children and adults can enjoy this timeless picture book as a traditional read-along, or can choose to listen to the original musical compositions as they read—one for each animal—using a free interactive smartphone app, which uses augmented reality to instantly play the appropriate song for each page when the camera of a mobile device is held over it. At publication, the accompanying music app will be available for free download via the project's website and the QR code in Wild Symphony.

“I love storytelling, and my novels always attempt to weave together varied themes,” Brown explains. “With Wild Symphony, I was excited to build on this idea and create a truly layered experience by using three different languages simultaneously—art, music, and words. In the same way that an opera captivates its audience by presenting beautiful sets, dramatic music, and lyrical drama, Wild Symphony strives to be an immersive feast for eyes, ears, and mind, all at the same time.”

Wild Symphony will release on September 1, 2020 and is set to publish in 27 countries and counting. To learn more, visit WildSymphony.com and stay tuned to Dan's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.

Latest Reviews for Origin

"The book’s final destination reveals the essence of what Kirsch saw and created, and it inspires awe."

"The Sagrada Família, the towering, incomplete Gaudi cathedral, is one of several inspired physical embodiments of the serious ideas this book means to contemplate. (Brown and serious ideas: they do fit together, never more than they have in 'Origin.')...The book’s final destination reveals the essence of what Kirsch saw and created, and it inspires awe...Liable to stir up as much controversy as 'The Da Vinci Code' did.” - The New York Times

Dan Brown takes readers back to the Origin

Dan Brown's latest Robert Langdon thriller is available throughout the world!

Dan Brown's latest Robert Langdon thriller hit book shelves this week! With an initial printing of 2 million copies, ORIGIN is being released in 42 languages worldwide.

Robert Langdon, Harvard professor of symbology and religious iconology, arrives at the ultramodern Guggenheim Museum Bilbao to attend a major announcement — the unveiling of a discovery that "will change the face of science forever." The evening's host is Edmond Kirsch, a forty-year-old billionaire and futurist whose dazzling high-tech inventions and audacious predictions have made him a renowned global figure. Kirsch, who was one of Langdon's first students at Harvard two decades earlier, is about to reveal an astonishing breakthrough...one that will answer two of the fundamental questions of human existence.

As the event begins, Langdon and several hundred guests find themselves captivated by an utterly original presentation, which Langdon realizes will be far more controversial than he ever imagined. But the meticulously orchestrated evening suddenly erupts into chaos, and Kirsch's precious discovery teeters on the brink of being lost forever. Reeling and facing an imminent threat, Langdon is forced into a desperate bid to escape Bilbao. With him is Ambra Vidal, the elegant museum director who worked with Kirsch to stage the provocative event. Together they flee to Barcelona on a perilous quest to locate a cryptic password that will unlock Kirsch's secret.

Navigating the dark corridors of hidden history and extreme religion, Langdon and Vidal must evade a tormented enemy whose all-knowing power seems to emanate from Spain's Royal Palace itself...and who will stop at nothing to silence Edmond Kirsch. On a trail marked by modern art and enigmatic symbols, Langdon and Vidal uncover clues that ultimately bring them face-to-face with Kirsch's shocking discovery...and the breathtaking truth that has long eluded us.

The Times of India, The Mumbai Mirror, and dozens of other Indian newspapers reported on Dan's recent talk at the Penguin Annual Lectures, where he shared his thoughts on some of his favorite topics - codes, secrets, and symbols. As Dan noted, "Regardless of religion, I think we all have that one moment when we look up at the sky and stare up at the universe, and ask, 'What is that?'"

After the talk, Dan answered questions for his fans. Midday wrote, "From his questions for Pope Francis to a script for a Bollywood film, the bestselling author's replies came off like words from one of his action-packed thrillers."

Dan delivers the Penguin Annual Lecture

"The first time I was in India was when I was 19, and now, here I am. In a strange way, I have come home."

Dan was the keynote speaker at this year's Penguin Annual Lecture in New Delhi and Mumbai. This was the first time in the lecture's history that the event has been organized in two cities. Dan's talk focused on codes, science, and religion and was greeted by an overwhelmingly welcoming reception.

The Times of India wrote, "When Dan Brown walked on stage, everyone in the Siri Fort auditorium here stood up cheering and clapping with a gusto that might have made him feel more like Hollywood star Tom Hanks who played the protagonist in the film based on his best-selling novel 'The Da Vinci Code'.

The 50-year-old American author admitted that he was moved by the generous welcome but much like Robert Langdon, the character Hanks played, was cool and methodical while delivering Penguin's Annual Lecture 2014 on Monday."

"When asked if he in any way resembled Langdon, he said, 'Langdon is the man I wish I could be. But he is braver and more intelligent.'"

Thrillers like “Coma,” “The Hunt for Red October” and “The Firm” all captivated me by providing glimpses into realms about which I knew very little — medical science, submarine technology and the law. To my taste, a great thriller must also contain at its core a thought-provoking ethical debate or moral dilemma." To read more of Dan's answers to these and other questions - such as "What books might we be surprised to find on your shelves?" and "If you could meet any writer, dead or alive, who would it be?" - pick up a hard copy of The New York Times this Sunday or click here.

HuffPo offers "9 Reasons Why Dan Brown is One of the Most Important (Living) Authors"

"...what Brown does in a way that appeals to millions of people around the world is tell stories that remind us there's more to the world than meets the eye."

Huffington Post's Gary Jansen asserts 9 reasons why Dan Brown makes a difference in the world. He writes, "what Brown does in a way that appeals to millions of people around the world is tell stories that remind us there's more to the world than meets the eye. His books--filled with history, intrigue, secret codes, and symbols embedded in paintings, books, churches, monuments, and government buildings--suggest that the things we take for granted are imbued with hidden meaning. A painting may not just be a painting...and the façade on a building may be more than a simple decoration."

DAN BROWN’S NEW NOVEL TO BE PUBLISHED BY DOUBLEDAY ON MAY 14TH

BOOK AND TITLE TO BE UNVEILED TODAY VIA SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS BEGINNING AT 7:00 AM EST

New York, NY (January 15, 2013)  Dan Brown’s new novel, the eagerly awaited follow-up to his #1, record-setting  international blockbuster, The Lost Symbol, will be published in North America by  Doubleday on May 14th.  The new book features renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon.  Set in the heart of Europe, Langdon is drawn into a harrowing world centered on one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces.

In a twist befitting a new Dan Brown novel, the title of the book will be revealed later today via reader social media posts wed to an online digital Hastagart mosaic, created by Hyperactivate.com.  Readers can view the mosaic at DanBrown.com, on Dan Brown’s Facebook page, and on TODAY.com.

Beginning at 7:00 AM EST, Doubleday, in partnership with NBC News' "TODAY," invites Dan Brown readers to post via Facebook or Tweet that they are helping to unveil the title of his latest book.   After readers take a social action (For example, “I want to know the title of Dan Brown’s latest book!  “New Dan Brown book coming, can’t wait!”), their profile image will instantly claim a tile in the mosaic, and it is through the aggregation of thousands of reader tiles that the title will be revealed.  Readers will be able to find their profile images by zooming into the mosaic canvas.

“Dan Brown’s enthusiasm for puzzles, codes and symbols is a passion shared by his readers,” says Suzanne Herz, Senior Vice President, Publishing for Doubleday.  “Our aim is to harness that passion and use it as a catalyst to reveal the new title.” The audio version of the new book will be published in North America by Random House Audio. The novel will also be published in the U.K. on May 14th by Transworld Publishers, a division of The Random House Group, who has published all of Brown’s novels. Dan Brown is represented by Heide Lange at Sanford J. Greenburger Associates, Inc.
