We had a few dirty cops in our town that lied and planted drugs in the victim's cars or homes, and they were sent to prison, then it all hit the fan one day, the cops were found out about and now the people that they helped put in prison are free, and some of the cops are now in prison! this probably goes on in any police dept.
how about when will the perpetrators of the bank fraud that cost us TRILLIONS go to jail. Also, when will the Bush McCain gang admit they caused all this misery all of the country by insisting we should trust banks and banks should have no limits on how much they gambled? Any self respecting casino would keep 5% or more on hand in cash reserve, but the banks objected to 1 %. Those folks should be in jail, not collecting gigantic bonuses because we bailed them out.
Excuse me? Getting slightly off the subject, are we not? There are THOUSANDS of innocent people doing time for things they haven't done... A lot of them are now being released thanks to a little thing called DNA.
That is true and sad.he will never be able to get those 17 years back.I hope he enjoys the rest of his life with his family with some peaceful days ahead.
When will certain police departments learn their lesson. You can NOT, repeat NOT legally withhold evidence that you know shows someone may be innocent of a crime. Guess what Guilford County, this man now has the legal grounds to file a suit because your police knowingly suppressed information that shopwed this man was innocent.
It's called shoddy police work. Instead of finding out the truth, many departments go for the easy route even if it's wrong and it destroys an innocent persons life.
I wish this man the best in the future, I hope he finds a job he loves and does get money in a lawsuit. Perhaps also for his family. Can not imagine how much of a nightmare it was to be convicted for something you did not do
I hear ya annie, but i hope he takes it easy, goes fishing, does some camping under the stars with his loved ones, and admire the trees, birds, and animals
Again. Don't leave out the jury members. They failed miserably. You can't take a man's freedom away just because you're "pretty damn sure" he's guilty. Until we hold juries accountable, as in don't take away a defendant's freedom on any less evidence than you're willing to gamble your own; these wrongful convictions will continue. Jury members are responsible for doubting the validity of 'eye witness testimony', testimony from criminals that is 'bought' with sentence reductions, and the opinions of law enforcement officials who view winning as the end game instead of justice. 12 people should suffer for the tragedy they bestowed on this man.
In ancient Rome, if it were revealed that you bore false witness against someone in a criminal matter, you would bear the punishment that the accused would have to suffer if convicted.
What a great attitude after spending 17 years behind bars. Very trythful when asked if he was angry. But has the will to better himself. God Bless him and his entire family.
I hope this man sues every cop and prosecuter involved in his false conviction----and is awarded every cent these people have or ever hope to make, plus MILLIONS from the state! He deserves every penny!
he seems like a nice guy,,to bad some hot shot d.a and a bunch of liers ruined his life,,i don't beleive in sueing some one but in this case he needs to and i hope he does and wins,,and if he wins no amount of money can get time lost back... have a good life mr. armstrong
I know he will never get those 17 years back,, but I hope the rest of his years on this earth are spent getting to know his family again,, and spending as much time as he can enjoying his grandchildren.
my aunt has been helping a man on death row for over twenty years she has proof hes innocent including dna and he was set up by some "good ol boys' who family member was involved. now shes afraid to ask certain things for fear she will wake up the state and they will execute him. this is a horrible thing .our justice system is in need of careful scrutiny terrible what they have been able to do. destroy innocent lives in the name of justice.
I hate to say this, but this is typical of the way police departments and prosecutors get convictions. Withholding evidence, lying and downright criminal behavior on the part of law enforcement, all in efforts to get a conviction. All this is being done, while the real murderers and rapists roam free to commit other crimes.
When a win at any cost mentality is applied to law enforcement, innocent people suffer.
Dirty cops and DA's dont look for truth they just want a conviction. And they will work overtime to clear a dirty cop to free him and the Da wont file charges so they wont look bad , cause they want to be a judge and then go into politics, and how would that look if they convict a cop.
Once I learned that all US police officers are Legally ALLOWED to Lie to your face, it was nothing else to hear. They lost most of their credibility based off that FACT. And I was locked up by police officers, in my own neighborhood, and they lied and said my car was involved in a homicide and stole my car and hid it from me. In the end the prosecutor threw the case out. Thank God. But just imagine, if they can legally lie and make up evidence, who would believe me, this happen on a dark late night, and they were in an unmarked car following me- i drove to the police station while on the phone with 911- still got jailed so the only eye witnesses were the entire police force. Again Thank God the prosecutor threw the case out- who would believe me. Me being Black- I learned, Lie does NOT discriminate, happens to the Human race. So Glad to see this man set free, 17 years later, but glad to see it happened. I'd personally rather be buried by 6 then judged by our corrupt system.
