This is no ordinary Zombie Run in Windsor Ontario.It was the Undead Unleashed.A 5K race designed to make you run for your life.They don't time you,they just want you to survive.Malden Park was the perfect setting and the weather co-operated as well.Each person starts with three flags attached to their "belt".Finish the race with at least one flag and you are deemed a survivor.If you finish without any flags you are considered turned.Some Zombies are slow,lethargic,wandering aimlessly and easy to avoid.And the others........not to be messed with.They move fast and keeping a safe distance is near impossible.
This isn't a 5K of straight pathways.You also contend with obstacles designed to slow you down and tire you out.You become easy food.
And with over 111 zombies stalking the course you always need to be aware of your surroundings.After being corralled into a fenced off starting gate with signs saying"Carcass Staging" and "Quarantine Zone" the participants listened to an emergency broadcast alert and were then released to fend for themselves.
With over 4000 runners signed up for the event they started in waves to keep things evenly spaced.
They also had music,food and drinks for purchase,including beer.When everything finished the runners and zombies were able to relax together and share stories. Show less
