Editors’ Notes
The DJ/producer team Swedish House Mafia is the trio of Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso, and they're incredibly talented at turning one song into many. “Antidote”—the second single from their celebrated 2011 live album, One Night Stand—gets put through the remix wringer here. Collaborating with duo Rob Swire and Pendulum’s own Gareth McGrillen (a.k.a. Knife Party), the three-minute radio edit gets things going with hard electro. “Antidote” is an instant banger, where Knife Party’s trademark bass wobble takes the prominent role over layered synths and sirens. The album version plays twice as long, milking the intro’s blending of looped hi-hat and squiggly synth tones before leading listeners to a cliffhanging buildup and drop. With “Knife Party Dub,” the duo makes good on the title with vision-blurring bass while creating a monster of bottom-end destruction. Axwell, Angello, and Ingrosso reclaim control with “Swedish House Mafia Dub,” where previous exaggerations are scaled down for more dance floor accessibility. The “Tommy Trash Remix” chills out the tempo and pitches down the robotic Speak N’ Spell samples.
