iTunes Editors’ Notes

By completely eschewing tracks from the band’s ‘70s heyday, Big Ones asserts that the reinvented Aerosmith can stand alone without the support of the early triumphs. The collection spans 1987 to 1994 and contains an astonishing number of hits for such a brief period. Under the direction of Bruce Fairbairn, “Dude (Looks Like a Lady),” “Love in an Elevator” and “Eat the Rich” were conceived as fusions of strutting ‘70s rock and mainstream polish. “Cryin’,” “Amazing,” and “Crazy” are arguably the last great hard-rock power ballads, but the award for most unusual and inventive hair metal hit must go to “Janie’s Got a Gun.” As a bonus, two middle-of-the-road songs were recorded for Big Ones: the typically stellar rocker “Walk on Water,” and “Blind Man,” a suspiciously familiar retread of “Cryin’.” Faring better is “Deuces Are Wild,” a rarity from The Beavis & Butthead Experience that perfectly captures the sweet-and-ragged spirit that defined Aerosmith in the early ‘90s. Even if you never heard “Dream On” or “Back In the Saddle,” Big Ones would still present you will a portrait of a band with a fully realized personality.

SO OLD BUT SO GOOD

Now a days ur listening to fall out boy and kayne west and so on but really were forgeting about these also good bands like aerosmith and Guns and Roses. the songs are just so good that they got a beat to them that makes u want to listen to them. love in a elevator is 1 of the best songs ever. and in orlando, florida they hve a aerosmith ride there. they must not forget the good days. peace out g shiznells

They're big and they're in your face

This album can go both ways. If you're an Aerosmith fan of just the 70s this album isn't for you. If you're an Aerosmith fan of just the 80s and after then this is for you. If you're a fan of both then this is for you to a degree. I happen to be a fan of both. This is all of the stuff from when they were with Geffen. Only Done With Mirrors has no songs on here. The best of the hard rock songs on this album is Elevator, Dude, Eat the Rich, and The Other Side. In fact these are the only hard rock tracks for the most part. Walk on Water to me is not that great of a track. The rest are ballads or some social stuff. The best of those are Jainie, Amazing, Angel, and What it takes. The rest are all right. The 70s fans would like the harder stuff better and the 80s and after fans would like the softer stuff better. Both kind of fans would like most with the exception of Walk on Water, Deuces are Wild, and Blind Man.

Aerosmith were one of the most popular hard rock bands of the '70s, setting the style and sound of hard rock and heavy metal for the next two decades with their raunchy, bluesy swagger. The Boston-based quintet found the middle ground between the menace of the Rolling Stones and the campy, sleazy flamboyance of the New York...
