Editors’ Notes

After reuniting with original vocalist Udo Dirkschneider for much of the '90s and '00s, Accept again tried a replacement singer for 2010’s Blood of the Nations. New vocalist Mark Tornillo was a double threat: he could wail with absolute abandon and also write lyrics. Since Accept’s former manager Gaby Hoffmann had written most of the group’s songs prior to 1996, this was the first time a native English speaker was in charge of the band’s verbal message. Blood of the Nations was written in the midst of America’s post-9/11 quagmire, making the dystopian war imagery that had preoccupied Accept since the early '80s suddenly relevant again. Even when the subject matter is as pessimistic as “The Abyss,” Accept comes out with such relentless muscle that the album can’t help but embody an inexorable life force. Many songs refer explicitly to war, as the band repeatedly equates the relentless attack of a military force to the relentless attack of Accept. Undoubtedly, the riffs here are an archetypal form of musical ordnance.

Customer Reviews

True POWER METAL returns!

This is Metal the way it should be. GREAT Riffs, screaming vocals, GREAT SONGS that you can sing the chorus's to!! Accept without UDO was questionable....not anymore. This CD rivals the best Accept have ever done. No one....NO ONE...will miss Udo after listening to this!

Wake Up Metalheads!!!

Quite possibly the Metal release of the year...and although nobody can truly fill Udo's shoes, Mark Tornillo is a perfect fit, and delivers BIG TIME. Truly captures the vibe that made them Metal Legends. So a word to the wise to all you younger Headbangers out there; THIS is how METAL is supposed to be done!!!

Real...Raw...Metal

Music like this is why I started loving metal as a kid in the early 80's. An instant classic for any true fan of straight-up-in-your-face heavy metal. Buy it...crank it...love it.

With their brutal, simple riffs and aggressive, fast tempos, Accept were one of the top metal bands of the early '80s, and a major influence on the development of thrash. Led by the unique vocal stylings of screeching banshee Udo Dirkschneider, the band forged an instantly recognizable sound and was notorious as one of the decade's fiercest live acts. Despite recording two of the best heavy metal albums of the decade in Restless & Wild and Balls to the Wall, Accept remained too heavy and extreme...
