iTunes Editors’ Notes
This was Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett's eighth and final album together. They divorced shortly after its release in 1972 which is unfortunate if only because D & B Together plays like they had truly hit their stride in blending blues, gospel, country, soul, and rock to forge a signature sound. It opens with the driving "Only You And I Know," penned by Dave Mason who appears on the album along with Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Leon Russell, John Hartford, Billy Preston, and Steve Cropper. Their inspired take on the traditional "Wade In The River Of Jordan" blossoms with a boisterous gospel choir singing a rave-up so fevered that it could make diehard atheists dance and testify. Interestingly, the choir was handpicked by Bonnie Bramlett to comprise Tina Turner, Sam and Merry Clayton, Rita Coolidge, Venetta Fields, Patrice Holloway, and Clydie King amongst others. "Comin' Home" is a blues rocking gem that was written with Clapton, though "Groupie (Superstar)" is a more obvious standout. The six tracks following "Country Life" are additional songs recorded by Delaney and Bonnie as solo artists following their breakup.

D & B Together
This is an amazing continuation of the sounds and songs that shaped the future of pop music. Delaney and Bonnie and their band produced that "authentic" sound everyone was looking for in the blues, folk music, etc. to add to rock and roll and lift it out of pop music during the '60s and make it a search for perfection. Comin' Home is still the perfect road song "Been out on the road, about six months too long..." Bonnie is unearthly on Wade In the River of Jordan. Groupie became a big hit for Rita Coolidge and others. The band is solid on this album. This remains the most influential AMERICAN band of its era influencing the Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Joe Cocker, and everyone else you can think of. Leon Russell never sounded better than when he played in this band and tried out most of his licks on their songs. George Harrison gave his telecaster from the roof concert to Delaney who was also a Shindog on Shindig. This is the source and every "A" player in the business knew it and came to nourish themselves on some real American rock and roll...

Truly "Rock Roots". I too am sadden by Delaney's passing. The music still remains. Buy it.
Originally Country Living
Allegedly Jerry Wexler with Atco pulled this album off the market, because of “poor quality”. Somehow I think that the obvious dissolution of their marriage must have influenced him to sell their recording contract and the master tapes of this album to CBS. This album has Dave Mason ( Only You Know and I know), Eric Clapton ( Comin’ Home), Leon Russell ( Groupie which was a huge hit for Rita Coolidge) and Country Life with Bobby Whitlock. Certainly not overshadowed by their previous work and timeless “hoe down” music as we call it in the South. This will not disappoint!
