iTunes Review

Teen heartthrob Jesse McCartney’s 2008 album Departure is here repackaged…er…Recharged in 2009 with five brand new flavors, the most notable being a bonus track — a truly infectious remix of “How Do You Sleep?,” with a cameo by Ludacris making for a dance-floor smash with an infectious injection of heartfelt rhymes. “Oxygen” furthers McCartney’s foray into freak-friendly falsetto-heavy balladry inspired by Justin Timberlake (in turn inspired by Michael Jackson). McCartney loosens up the larynx with a Prince-esque tenor on “Crash & Burn,” a sultry and soulful ballad that begs to be mashed up with the man in Purple’s “Little Red Corvette.” Just when you think things can’t get any steamier, the cosmopolitan “Body Language” comes out of nowhere with partial lyrics sung in Japanese and French. The aptly titled “In My Veins” is an addictive slow jam with barbed hooks that will get inside your head like a good hit should.

Departure:Recharged is highly UNDERRATED

First of all, Apple is going to be hiking the prices of songs to 1.29 in a couple of weeks, so stop putting the blame on McCartney (as if he has any control of that anyway). I have NEVER been a fan of McCartney before this album. Everytime one of his songs came on the radio/tv I switched the station; I had already gone through the whole 'boy band/teen pop' phase and I wasn't going back. Each single that McCartney has put out for this album has actually thrown me into becoming a full blown fan. I debated with myself for weeks before deciding to buy the album because I didn't want to be disappointed (as I am with many records that have come out from varios artists lately). I am VERY happy with the way the album has turned out and I enjoy the direction that McCartney is going. For a first attempt at this main genre, he does very well. I also enjoy the fact that McCartney has the vocal ability to back this album up, and is one of the few artists in the industry today that sounds AMAZING in concert, which is something that I am very critical of; I hate going to concerts and find out that the album was so overproduced, you find that you wasted your money and your time with seeing them play live, and in turn lose some of your respect for that artist. Departure: Recharged has the right ratio of production to actual talent and McCartney can deliver. I also like that he is getting in to more song writing. When I found out he co-wrote 'Bleeding Love' I firmly believed for a couple of weeks that there was some other Jesse McCartney in the world that people were talking about because I couldn't believe that he was capable of writing that. I had regretfully stereotyped him; I find now that he is not someone that should be written off, and neither should this album. If the next album is anything like 'Crash and Burn', 'Body Language', 'In My Veins', and 'Oxygen', then fans have something great to look forward to.

True artist; Real talent

His new music made me a fan.Jesse has really improved as an artist. He went from a Disney teen sensation...and is now finally making amazing music. His previous music was ok...but this is seriously phenominal. He got his first #1 song with Leavin' wrote a grammy nominated song with Bleeding Love, and went on tour. He is a real true artist. He's starting to become a great songwriter and that shows in his new music. Unlike most teen stars, hes stayed out of drugs and tabloids. After seeing him in concert in Feburary I learned he's one of those rare artist who sound amazing live. He's a natural performer who can dance and sweat, yet hits every not perfectly. PLEASE...im begging you to give his music an open minded listen...forget any images you have of him, wether its he's a disney boy, or anything! If I didn't I wouldnt be listening to his great music today! All these new songs will burn up the charts! With these new song syou see he is really getting comfortable in the new R&B sound. Some songs like Rock you, make up, and into ya, could to some sound a bit fake. But I'm mesmorized by the 4 new tracks. In My Veins is such a mature but sensual song. Oxygen really highlights jesse's voice, and he has a great falsetto. Body Language is fun and sure to be his next Leavin'. And Crash and burn is just catchy and fun. All four of these songs owuld burn up the charts no doubt! I didnt pay attention to his first two cd's but then I heard departure and I was hooke don the jmac plane! Now these 4 new songs have surpassed my expectations. This man is really passionate about music and he has his head screwd on right. He's gonna go far in life and I can't wait to watch him and his sucess! When you love what you do...it shows through in your final work...in this case the new songs especially! His music is evolving lyrically and just getting better. Yeah its wierd how its 1.29 a song...but hey...if you listened tot hem you know you can;t resist em!
