Outstanding
Buy it for Dizzy, but look closely at the range of people he's working with on this compilation. From Max Roach to Monk, this CD grazes through the greatest jazz/be-bop perromers in history. A great introductory collection to Dizzy for sure, but great for anyone who loves the music.
Give us a break
Who are these people that are arrogant and ignorant enough to call Dizzy Gillespie's music "good elevator music". I don't know what elevator they're talking about but I'd like a ride on it. Dizzy is a genius!

Dizzy Gillespie's contributions to jazz were huge. One of the greatest jazz trumpeters of all time (some would say the best), Gillespie was such a complex player that his contemporaries ended up copying Miles Davis and Fats Navarro instead, and it was not until Jon Faddis' emergence in the 1970s that Dizzy's style was successfully recreated.
