One of the best bands of all time!

Savatage has been one of the most influential and most underrated bands of all time. They were one of the pioneers of Progressive Metal, they influenced Thrash Metal, Power Metal, Heavy Metal and they also revolutionized Rock Operas as we know them. The Hall Of The Mountain King is one of their many masterpieces. It blends Heavy Metal, classical, progressive influences and the future sound of what is now Trans Siberian Orchestra. The track Prelude To Madness is actually Edvard Grieg's Hall of the Mountain King and Savatages HOTMK is an epic about the godlike Mountain King. If you love Heavy Metal, Rock Operas, Progressive Metal, or just fantastic I reccomend you buy this along with their whole discography as well as Trans Siberian Orchestra, Doctor Butcher, Circle II Circle and Jon Olivia's Pain discography

Best Savatage album

Even after all these years this is my favorite Savatage album. The title track is awesome!

Hall of the mountain Awesome

I really liked this album upon first getting it. I am curious and desiring to get Sirens and The Dungeons are calling though even though its different from this and the later more progressive works of Savatage. The title track is of course good but Beyond the doors of the dark is another good standout track. White Witch has to be my favorite track along with the title track and 24 hours ago. This is one of the best albums of 1987. Get it. ^^

Their other members included Steve "Doc" Wacholz (drums) and Keith Collins (bass), who was later replaced by Johnny Lee Middleton.
