iTunes Editors’ Notes
The massive crossover anthem “O.P.P.” was both a gift and a curse for the New Jersey-based trio Naughty By Nature. The song brought the group’s music to a huge audience that might have never otherwise heard them, but the single’s runaway success obscured the rest of Naughty By Nature, an album that should have gone down in history as one of 1991’s toughest and best-built rap albums. “Tight” has become an overused hip-hop colloquialism, but there is no better word when it comes to describing “Yoke the Joker,” “Everyday All Day” and “Wickedest Man Alive.” Everything fits together like a fine mechanism, and the Naughty By Nature machine runs like clockwork. The fast-paced rhymes of Treach and Win Rock connect like chain-link. “Everything’s Gonne Be Alright” and “Thankx for Sleepwalking” proved the group’s expertise at melding pop hooks to roughneck New Jersey beats, but thankfully they also included “Let the Ho’s Go,” “Guard Your Grill” and “Uptown Anthem,” which are pretty much pure roughneck. And all these years later, their breakout hit still sounds amazing.

Classic Yesterday Today and Tomorrow
I stumbled across this album while browsing through I tunes and it put a smile on my face in that "boy that takes me back" kind of way. I was 11 when this came out. I started listening to the samples expecting it to sound alot like most of the early 90's rap that I remember (the Fu Shnickens, WTF?) 30 seconds later I was buying it, again, for the first time. This is a classic: fantstic beats and two great rappers (Treach, Vinny) sharing the spotlight. Evenly split between club bangers and grimy east coast battle raps, this is a must own and is guaranteed to play in your pod longer than 90% of the new rap out there (D4L, WTF?) If you had it then buy it again, if you never heard it, pick it up. You wont be dissapionted. For a similar treat go back and grab black moon's "enta da stage".
O.P.P.
O.P.P. is one of my favourite songs ever. This album is a great hit by Naughty by Nature. Hip Hop Hooray is also a jammin' track on this album.
A classic!
Naughty By Nature's 1991 self-titled debut can rightfully be called timeless. The album is solid from beginning to end. Songs such as "O.P.P", "Yoke the Yoker" and "Wickedest Man Alive" moved hip hop forward to new heights. Treach is simply an incredibly gifted wordsmith. From his double time cadence to his skillfull use of metaphors, syllables and slant rhymes, you would be hard pressed to find very many modern emcees who weren't influenced by him in some way. A thourougly enjoyable experience.
