British girl group M.O. (not to be confused with Danish singer/songwriter MØ) rode the early-2010s nostalgia for all things '90s, evoking the look and close-harmony pop-R&B sound of U.S. trios like TLC and SWV. The group was formed in London in 2012 by ex-members of defunct pop groups. Frankee Connolly had been half of the short-lived duo Mini Viva, while Annie Ashcroft and Nadine Samuels had been in the quartet Duchess; neither group had amounted to much.
