Glasgow's Franz Ferdinand continues to twist its grooves towards the dancefloor, injecting Brit-pop melodies with the antsy angst of techno's twitchy beats. This is the white-boy disco inferno commandeered as a loose concept album about a night on the town and the morning after. "Send Him Away" shuffles with a sense that somewhere David Bowie is watching, his glam-rock sparkle slipping through the sudden slashes of guitars that cut through the machine-like keyboard blips and runs. "Twilight Omens" kicks in with a warbly vocal worthy of Ray Davies while the music lurches with a mechanical keyboard dictating the unyielding rhythm. Davies' ghost can be heard haunting "Bite Hard," another swinging shuffle that explodes in celebratory glee. But while the group serves the beat with dedication, "No You Girls" sounds like the perfect nightclub pick-up anthem. The band strips things down for "Katherine Kiss Me," the acoustic guitar lullaby that closes the album and tucks the night away.

Phenomenal album that gets better with each listen

This is a fantastic release. Don't let the 'electronic sound' part scare you off. This is the Franz we know and love wrapped in a slightly different package, but just as good as ever. Ulysses, No You Girls, and Katherine Kiss Me are just some of the highlights of the album, but really most of it is terrific.

Good Effort, New Direction, Great album!

Although I realize that many people are going to upset with this new "dance"-esque sound that Franz has emerged with, as compared to the two previous albums, I think it is an improvement. Although nothing can ever beat the Franz's self-titled debut, this is a good direction to go in, as it seems many bands are indeed swaying toward a kind of dance-rock music that has become very popular. another good thing about this album is that even though it is dancey, it isnt at all "electronic" or syntheseismic waves of terror, or the very dreaded auto-tune. Instead there is a very good use of drum beat-downs, guitars, and even an afro-pop style that really gives this album it's own name. Overall, this is a solid album and is a great step foreward for Franz.

Finally

I've been waiting ever since "You Could Have It So Much Better" for them to make another album and counting down the days for this one 's release. I am so thrilled with their work. They definatley couldn't have done any better then this. Way to go guys.
