Different & Disappointing

A couple "hits" on here, but no soul or heart. Just cheesy, generic, pop lyrics with hip hop beats and some "awkward" lyrics coming from him. He's 46, I would expect cheesy crap like this on a debut album, his music should have developed and "matured, instead it's gone in the complete opposite direction. Go Listen to "Raining on Sunday" or "You'll Think of Me" "Tonight I Wanna Cry" "Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me" or "Better Life" those were real songs with raw emotion, while still maintaining Keith's optimistic spirit. Now, those songs aren't even recognizably him when compared to his later albums. I love Keith Urban and am a very devoted fan, but it's obvious he doesn't have another "Golden Road" or "Be Here" album in him anymore. Ironically those are the records that broke him out and made him big. I like some of the songs on here, they just aren't what I loved from Keith Urban, and what made me a fan. Too generic.

More from The Hit Machine

This will satisfy many fans of Keith's music no doubt. There are 3-4 hits here and the music are a reflection of Keith's seemingly blissful life and that's reflected in his songwriting. That being said, there used to be an edge to his playing and songwriting that is long gone. Guitar breaks that were blistering. Soaring outros and intros are rare. Lyrics dealing with more in life that fast cars, sunny days, and sweet kisses...gone. I'm happy that Keith has dealt with his demons, truly. It's taken his music to kind of a generic place though.

I've been waiting for new KU music!!

I am so excited to hear this new music!! I see the criticisms that Keith Urban has lost his edge but I think his music has just grown with him. Let's be honest - we are hopefully more settled and content when we're in our 40's, right? Well - he certainly is and his music reflects that too! I don't this makes him less effective as an artist, it just means he's authentic and true to himself! He pours himself into everything he sings and you can hear his passion and joy come through crystal clear!!! Love it!!!!
