Album Review

There have been many compilations drawn from the four albums Cream originally released between 1966 and 1969. But the one most commonly available since the early '80s was the ten-track Strange Brew: The Very Best of Cream (1983), a barebones collection focusing on the group's hit singles. Note, then, that this album, despite the similar title, is a newly compiled 1995 CD/cassette containing all of the recordings on Strange Brew, plus ten more. It is thus the most comprehensive Cream anthology on the market, and includes all the group's essential tracks on a single disc with superior sound in a package containing good annotations.

Customer Reviews

Terrific Band, Terrific CD.

Cream is truly one of the best bands of all time. What they did together in such a short amount of time is amazing. This CD is great if you've never listened to Cream before. It gives you a great summary, practically. Only song I would have included is Toad. This CD includes the classics "Sunshine of Your Love", "Badge", "Crossroads", and "White Room", along with many other great songs, such as "Strange Brew" and "Politician". I'd recommend buying this CD ASAP, and if you like what you hear, buy the 2005 Cream Reunion Tour CD For being their age, these guys are still great rockers and put on a great show at Royal Albert Hall in London

Amazing

Cream is no doubt a great band, with its psychedelic guitar to its top-notch vocals, this Very best collection does a great job capturing the true essence of the band, this is one of the cd’s everyone will like, no matter what your taste. I have listened to this band for a long time now, and never have I grown tired of its sound. I recommend this cd to everyone.

Cream Still One Of The Best

After many odd years, Cream has still lasted as one of the top five bands of all time. With that in mind, anybody who is a fan of classic rock needs to own this album. Let the melodies of Eric Clapton's smooth guitar take you away. Cream has great flow and the lyrics are creative right down to the core. Begging with the spunky and odd sounding (but it grows on you) melody of "Anyone for Tennis" to the dark and thought provoking prose of "Tales of Brave Ulysses" (one of the top five Clapton creations of all time), this album is a must for any lover of music.

Biography

Formed: 1966 in England

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '60s, '90s, '00s

Although Cream were only together for a little more than two years, their influence was immense, both during their late-'60s peak and in the years following their breakup. Cream were the first top group to truly exploit the power trio format, in the process laying the foundation for much blues-rock and hard rock of the 1960s and 1970s. It was with Cream, too, that guitarist Eric Clapton truly became an international superstar. Critical revisionists have tagged the band as overrated, citing the musicians'...
