Google+ has a problem.

It’s not engagement or the lack of a clear way to monetize itself. It’s not those sometimes-unwieldy friend-organizing circles, or even the perception that no one other than nerds uses the service.

The problem, its creators believe, is that many people keep comparing it to Facebook — or, more broadly, social networks. While social interaction is a key part of Google+, the project...

Well stated.

I find the "page" and "feed" non-relationship annoying.  (And I DON'T thank Google for changing my photo and background on my page after I painstakingly created a complementary background to the icon-photo you see here which they rotated out to another??  Please.  Who wants the statement made by sixties-style tacky bubbles behind them on a header!)

“I went to Yosemite with two other families, both fathers and senior technology executives at another company,” +Vic Gundotra told Mashable. “We had a great four days with our children, taking amazing photos.

“One of the fathers at the end of the trip said, ‘Here’s my password, here’s my email, here’s my account’ for this popular photo-sharing site. And he said, ‘Just log in as me and everybody upload your photos.’ Now we’re software executives, and we understand this stuff, and we have to share passwords to collect photos? How broken is it that?”

And so, Google+ Events was born.

The idea for Google+ Events came about when Google's Vic Gundotra realized there was no easy way to pool photos from a vacation.

Google+ execs shold get more vacations and hang out with real people more - if that's what it takes for them to find out about sharing in non-office context

And thus ends the tale of Flash on mobile browsers: Adobe has announced it will not support Flash Player browser plugin for Android 4.1 and onward.

“There will be no certified implementations of Flash Player for Android 4.1,” writes Adobe on its official blog, adding that it recommends “uninstalling Flash Player on devices which have been upgraded to Android 4.1.”

Is this a good thing? Why or why not?

+Chukwudi Emmanuel Udegbunam Yes, by default, YouTube runs on Flash, however they are switching to HTML 5 presently in supported browsers. You can usually tell what's running flash by right-clicking the active area of the movie player/application. If it says "About Flash Player" or some such, you know it's Flash. Youtube will not be affected on mobile devices because there are native applications for iOS and Android. You just will not be able to view them within the contents of the YouTube web-page. When they switch to HTML 5 you will see them again as usual. In fact, you can do this right now by visiting this link to test out HTML5 mode on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/html5/

RIM revealed that its share of the global smartphone market had dropped by half in the first quarter. As a result, sales were down a stunning 43% on the previous quarter — a loss per share of 28 cents.

How bad is that? Analysts, prepared by abstract warnings of bad news from CEO Thorston Heins, had been predicting dire outcomes, but few had gone higher than a 14 cent per share loss. The average was a 3-cent loss. (The company halted trading Wednesday afternoon, after shares had slid 18%.)

Just a day after Google released the final version of Google Chrome for Android, the company is bringing its popular web browser to iOS.

Google showcased the browser at Google I/O running on the iPhone and iPad. As with the Android version of the browser, users can sync browser tabs and bookmarks with Chrome instances on the desktop and other mobile devices.

Lance Ulanoff originally shared this post:
One year and 150 million active users later, Google+ has built a smaller, but perhaps more connected and engaged group of users than its social net counterparts. Some of them, like +Mike Elgan, we call power users. Here's why.

“Online sharing is awkward. Even broken. And we aim to fix it.” With these words on June 28, 2011, Google introduced its most ambitious stab yet at breaking Facebook’s hold on social media: Google+. Yet a year later, it’s Google+ that needs fixing.

On the one year anniversary of Google+, +Todd Wasserman thinks that "Plus is a big minus."

What do you think about what he wrote?

On June 28, 2011, Google+ rolled out to the world. One year later, it's not nearly the Facebook killer it was intended to be. Here's why.

I totally disagree, one of the most influential reasons on increasing the Facebook users by 200,000,000 is the Arabian Spring the matter that caused revolutionists connect through it by the force of the public advertising on TV. While we were locked in our homes, all we could do is making users to follow the breaking news. Anyone can say that we could do the same through Google +, that's right, but if you're not a tech. expert and wanted to connect to other persons through a website they are registered into, you just register the same website albeit your account is not active right now. On the other hand, the Google + users are active and only register for a real social networking. To ensure so, you can revise the increase in Twitter users.
